Le Papier Studio for The Boarding House, Chicago

A couple of weeks ago Mr. and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary with a getaway in the city. Our good friends volunteered to watch the boys so we could have the night to ourselves. We had been wanting to dine at The Boarding House ever since they opened a couple of months ago. I wanted to check out some of the work I did for them in person.

Last year I was approached by the interior designer who was in charge of decorating The Dinning Room at The Boarding House. She was looking for custom silhouettes featuring Alpana Singh (the proprietor of The Boarding House and Master Sommelier) and her pup. I was excited about the opportunity! I produced 3 custom silhouettes (as seen in the picture above) which now grace the “Green Wall” as they call the 14 feet tall wall covered by a lovely arrangement of emerald green frames.

Upon arrival we were greeted and escorted to our table on the balcony overlooking the third floor (this is a four floor restaurant, each floor offers a unique dining experience) – as seen above.

The decor is breathtaking (from a restaurant standard that is!) The Dinning Room’s focal point is the ceiling (believe it or not) – over 4,000 wine bottles hanging from the ceiling creating a unique installment. The wall paper, elegant green curtains with a pop of green and the over 14 feet tall brick wall make this room one to remember.

The highlight of our night was meeting Alpana, of course. We love watching her on Check Please where she scouts out restaurants around Chicago. We are foodies for sure:) Alpana came and introduced herself to us and thanked me in person for the art work I did for her. She said they get many compliments on it (BIG GULP!!) She is the most down to earth gal you would ever meet – given how much she’s accomplished at such a young age.

If you ever  happened to visit The Boarding House be sure you snap a picture of the famous wall and tag me.
